After weeks of scorching hot and dusty dry – we caught a weather break and had unseasonably mild temperatures for a bit. The garden got its second wind, and sent blooms skyward again.
Spectacular Sunflowers…
Dazzling Dahlias…
Daylilies…
A second round of Delphinium…
And the long-awaited appearance of those elusive Naked Ladies.
Then – on Sunday – something truly amazing: clouds and a very light rain. You don’t realize how much you miss those drops until you live in California through three years of drought. It was short-lived, but spread a hush of gray over the garden.
From riot to quiet.
“When the well is dry, we know the worth of water.” ~ Benjamin Franklin (Lucky agrees!)
Even the dragonflies were smiling.
Absolutely beautiful, Audrey; so glad to hear you finally got some rain. I would gladly send you some of ours!
And I would gladly take it! Just a smattering…but wonderful all the same. Hopefully, a sign of things to come. 🙂
Spectacular photos of a beautiful garden and handsome pup. Love the dragonfly. We have rain coming tonight and I so wish we could share with you. 🙂
I would so happily accept it! 🙂

I wish I could send you some of the rain and “mixed precipitation” we had over the winter and spring! It gave birth to a new “crop” of annoying, little, flying, biting critters who make it extremely difficult to enjoy an otherwise beautiful morning in the yard with the dogs. I don’t mind the rain at all — in fact I enjoy it at times — but the bugs drive me up a wall! 😁
I failed to mention that the clouds brought with them a blanket of mosquito. And I have the bites to prove it!
So beautiful!

beautiful pictures. Glad to see the big sunflower has made an appearance. I especially like the daylily picture.
It’s my wayward gardener! You had better return this weekend! 🙂
As usual, just lovely sights to start my day. Absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you, Cindy!
So happy that Mother Nature sent such a gorgeous gift your way, and that you decided to share!
I hope she has a few more waiting for us this winter. 🙂
