A Garden’s Friend

As dog is man’s (and woman’s) best friend –

I find that Lavender is the garden’s. A loyal giver, and a hard worker – it offers much to its surroundings. Its strong sturdy stalks support delicate sweet flowers.

Its soft blue grey goes along and gets along with everyone.

It rebounds well from adversity, spreads heavenly perfume…

expects little, and gives a lot.

Happy to be a supporting player –

but fully capable of leading the charge.

It is a perennial friend…

and a gracious host to all.

Lavender. Friend to the garden. Qualities to emulate with friends.

  1. I love Lavender! I love its scent, and its color; and I especially love its calming properties! When Callie is overly anxious due to a particularly close thunderstorm, I get out my bottle of lavender body refresher (essential oil and purified water). I spray some in the palms of my hands, rub my hands together, and give my poor girl a massage from head to toes. Between the love and attention I’m giving her, the benefits of a massage, and the calming properties of the lavender, she usually settles down within five minutes.

  2. So beautiful! I’ve tried growing lavender here with no luck. I always feel so peaceful just looking at it.
