I am a nascent gardener, rescuer, and photographer, chronicling the journey of the dogs at Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary near Sacramento, CA - and the Memorial Garden we have devoted to them.

    1. Julius was the beloved companion of our long-time volunteer, Tatia. Adopted from Homeward Bound. He earned his wings after a brave battle with cancer. He will be missed by many – but most of all, by his devoted mama.

      1. My heart goes out to his mama. I hope she is finding comfort in the fact that Julius is no longer in pain, as well as in her memories of their happy times together. (((HUGS)))

  1. Julius came from a bad situation with no socialization, afraid of people. With Tatia he learned to love her and others too. He spent his best years with her and was so fortunate to have found such a wonderful home with such a loving mom. My fondest memory is last Christmas eve, he came with Tatia and her son to an evening celebration in the garden. He sat near Tatia, then decided everyone needed to pet him! He used that golden nudge to remind us he was there and to please pet him. I thought, what a wonderful transformation he had made! We will all miss him!

  2. Thank you for this Audrey. I can still hardly breath when I look at us. We were so happy that day, and every day. It means so much to know that he touched the hearts of others as well as mine, as he learned life and joy. I will miss him forever.

    1. Julius touched many, Tatia. He was special to us – but even more so, because he was special to you. Lincoln: “In the end, its not the years in your life that count, but the life in your years.” Julius had a great life in his years with you – and because of you. Hugs.
