White is so cooling in a garden, especially on very hot summer days.
White offers a place for the eyes to rest – a break from all the hot yellows, oranges and reds of an August garden.
White dogs are just as cool in the garden –
The come in all shapes and sizes,
offering up their love,
or just a helping hand.
One white dog had an especially sweet “going home” this weekend – turning her seventh birthday into her first “gotcha day.”
Earned after years of birthing puppies, and currently recovering from double knee surgery,
Olivia has found her forever home.
White. A color without hue…
but plenty of heart.

Awww, I’m so happy for Olivia!! I can’t think of a better birthday present than a forever home and family! Her girls are adorable!!
Wow, so glad for Olivia!!!
So happy for Olivia! And wonderful reflections on the color white. My favorite flowers to photograph are white ones, mainly because I find it such a challenge to capture them in photographs as I see them in real life and to bring to the image the “cool place for the eyes to rest” as you so perfectly expressed it: the lighting and exposure are very tricky!
Indeed…especially at midday. Those dark shadows on white can be very trying!
Wonderful news, I’m so happy for Olivia! ❤ 🙂
This is the nicest "white post" I have ever seen. Gives me goosepimples all over! 🙂
Thank you for the wonderful article, we are the family that adopted Olivia and have enjoyed our first few days with her! Thank you to all the volunteers that took care of her at the ranch!
Lucky, lucky, Olivia! Your girls were adorable with that sweet sign and we know she will be well loved and cared for by your family. Thank you for adopting her! 🙂 ❤
Another post from you, and more goosebumps for me. Love your happy endings and beautiful photos but where did you find a white pool? 🙂
The pool is made by One Dog Bone. You can find it on Amazon. Incredibly sturdy and stands up to lots of dogs in play – but not cheap! Thanks for the kind note. 🙂
Such beautiful dogs! Olivia looks so much like our dog, Zena! They could be sisters! I’m so happy to know she has found a home. Zena sure did complete our family. 🙂
