A perfect long weekend starts early with the afternoon off and a sneak trip to the garden.
The Hummingbird Garden with Veronica, Coreopsis and Asiatic Lily in bloom….
The Cottage Garden, freshly tamed. Ina has been here!
The Butterfly Garden, filling in at a rapid rate. I saw a Monarch today, but it got away!
The Dahlias, making their way skyward…
Maria’s Garden, a jumble of color awaiting the Sunflowers arrival…
Darn bunnies burrowing beneath the blueberries…
And visitors. A lizard with a keen sense of irony…
And Pelican Bay. Taking up residence in the flooded rice fields.
“Just living is not enough… one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.”

(I’ll be back tomorrow.) π
What beautiful pictures that illustrate a fabulous quote by Hans Christian Anderson. You brought a smile to my little doggie heart!
Thank you! So happy to brighten your day! π
What great pictures. It looks like the lizard is keeping a close eye on the garden and getting lots of sun. the Asiatic lilies are just beautiful. I don’t think I have ever seen pelicans out at HB before.
I just loved the irony of real reptile sunning himself on fake reptile! π
What a gorgeous day and what lovely photos π
Work days are always better when shared with pelicans, lizards and flowers! π
Agreed! Today we had a 2 metre carpet snake and a couple of wallabies hanging around at the shelter but no flowers π
What a beautiful garden, deceptively simple, I can imagine all the work it takes. And such a lovely resting place for those that have gone before.
Thank you…yes, lots of hard work to bend Mother Nature a little to our way of seeing things. No “resting” here…just a wonderful place to memorialize our companions and remember together. π
Beautiful flowers, but the lizard brought a huge smile.
Isn’t he funny?! And choosing a turtle to conquer – of all things! Besides the irony, I think he liked the view. π
Stunning photos! Absolutely gorgeous…
Ahhh…thank you! It’s hard to go wrong in those surroundings.
Glorious, and I love the sweet lizard, too…thank you for starting the day with sun shine and flowers!
The little guy had no fear. Came right up to him and he wasn’t moving. Don’t know if he thought I couldn’t see him, or – more likely – he was just enjoying his perch so much that he wasn’t giving it up!
It gives me hope when I look at mine, still struggling to bloom and being inundated by rain.
Lovely…have a wonderful weekend.
